Portuguese Numbers 1 to 100: Easy Guide with Pronunciation

Olá! Vamos conversar. Numbers are the first thing you will use in a market, a taxi, a hotel. They also reveal the rhythm of the language faster than almost anything else.

1 to 20: the unique ones

Memorize these as a block. Um, dois, três, quatro, cinco, seis, sete, oito, nove, dez. Then onze, doze, treze, quatorze, quinze, dezesseis, dezessete, dezoito, dezenove, vinte.

Say them aloud daily. After three days they stop being a list and start being a song.

21 to 100: the pattern

From 21 onward the structure is tens + e + units. Vinte e um, vinte e dois, trinta e três. The tens are vinte, trinta, quarenta, cinquenta, sessenta, setenta, oitenta, noventa, cem.

Cem becomes cento when followed by more numbers. Cento e um, cento e dois. Useful when prices climb.
